The institute separately publishes general OPD registration hours of 8:00 AM–11:00 AM Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM–10:30 AM on Saturday and gazetted holidays. Those registration hours do not mean that every department or unit sees patients on every day.

Registration timing and department OPD timing are different
This is one of the most common sources of confusion. PGIMER’s patient-care information gives a general registration window, while the department schedule can divide work by unit, weekday, location or special clinic.

This tells you when general OPD registration operates; it does not tell you which unit is sitting that day.
Department / unit schedule
A department may assign different units to different weekdays. Cardiology, Internal Medicine and Urology are examples where unit/day detail matters.
Always match the visit to the correct department or unit record.
How to read a PGIMER OPD schedule correctly
- Start with the department name.Search the clinical department rather than a symptom. This site does not diagnose which specialty you need.
- Check the unit/day line.If the department is split into units, make sure the intended unit is actually listed on the day you plan to visit.
- Check the location.PGIMER has multiple blocks and advanced centres. A correct day with the wrong building can still waste time.
- Check the registration window separately.General registration hours are not a replacement for the department timetable.
- Recheck before a long journey.Operational schedules can change. The official PGIMER source is the final authority.
Why unit-level information matters
In the records currently verified for this site, Cardiology is divided across Unit 1, Unit 2 and Unit 3 on different pairs of weekdays. Internal Medicine is distributed across six units from Monday through Saturday. Urology has separate Unit I and Unit II days plus selected special clinics. A single sentence such as “PGI OPD is open Monday to Saturday” would therefore be incomplete for someone trying to reach the correct unit.
What about special clinics?
PGIMER’s patient-care information lists numerous special clinics in addition to general specialty and super-specialty services. Some department pages also publish special-clinic schedules separately. When your visit is for a named special clinic, use the exact clinic or department source rather than assuming that the general department schedule applies.
Planning a first PGIMER visit around the OPD schedule
- Identify the department before travelling.
- Check the relevant OPD day/unit.
- Check the current general registration window.
- If using online pre-registration, confirm that the department/date is available on the official portal.
- Keep enough time for campus navigation, registration and movement between buildings.

Common schedule mistakes
I found “8 AM to 11 AM” online. Is that my doctor timing?
Not necessarily. That is the general OPD registration window published by PGIMER for Monday–Friday. The department or unit schedule must be checked separately.
The department has several units. Which one should I choose?
Use the unit/day information published by PGIMER for the visit you are planning. Online pre-registration does not guarantee a named consultant or unit.
Can I use an old screenshot of the OPD schedule?
It is safer to recheck the current PGIMER page, particularly before travelling from another city. Schedules and locations can change.
Why does this site show only some departments?
Because we publish structured schedule records only after checking an official source. We prefer an incomplete verified directory to a complete-looking directory built from guesses.
